We are so excited to offer you this female focused, all inclusive, Mountain Skills 2 Course and Camping Weekend with Galz Gone Wild & Stride Ireland. The Mountain Skills 2 official training course will increase your confidence in the mountains and on the trails. Build on your MS1 skills and become a self proficient hiker. This course is lead by experienced female instructors, provided by Louise Lawrence and accredited by Mountaineering Ireland & The Mountain Training Board Ireland. WHAT YOU LEARN ON THE MOUNTAIN SKILLS 2 COURSE • Review of Mountain Skills 1 • Timing calculations • Taking bearings from map • Walking on a bearing • Feature recognition • Navigation at night techniques • Route Planning • Emergency Procedures • Safe movement & navigating in steep and broken ground THE ITINERARY FOR THE WEEKEND Saturday 9.30 am Course introduction 9.45 am Indoor workshop: Route planning, taking a compass bearing, weather and MS recap. Preparation and final packing for your camping expedition. 12.00 pm Depart for wild campsite, set up camp, lunch 2.00 pm Practical hill walk - navigational techniques, walking on a compass bearing, pacing, distance and timings. 6.00 pm Dinner 7.00 pm Night navigation exercise 9.30 pm Return to camp Sunday 8.00 am Breakfast & strike camp. 9.00 am Practical hill walk - review day 1 skills Safe movement in ascent and descent of steeper and broken ground. 2.30 pm Workshop: Emergency procedures part 2 3.30 pm Debrief 4.00 pm Finish WHATS INCLUDED • Food - 1 x Breakfast and 1 x Dinner (lunches not included) • Your Mountain Skills course fee and syllabus • 3 hikes • 1 night Wild Camping • Itinerary & packing checklist • Chats, connection and community • All female group • Camping equipment: 2 person tent, sleeping mat, camping stove and pots (not included - camp cutlery, bowls, plates, cups, pillow ). • 1 hour preparation online workshop HERE ARE THE DETAILS Online preparation workshop: 23rd Oct @7.00 pm Date: Saturday 9th - Sunday 10th November 2024 Arrival: 9.30 am Saturday morning Depart: 4.00 pm Sunday (Times are subject to change) Location: Laragh, Wicklow. Your female instructors: Jenny Copeland & Louise Lawrence (Ratios 1:6) PRICING The price for the weekend is €325. A cancellation of your spot will incur a €50 fee. The course fee of €325 is non refundable 7 days before the start of the course date. No transfers to another course date permitted.
